Kwanzaa Unity Celebration Agenda

Join us December 11th from 11am – 3pm

This year’s Banneker-Douglass Museum’s Kwanzaa program will celebrate the first principle “Unity” (Umoja) which is a commitment to building, developing, and defending African American and Diasporic communities.
This year’s programming will include local Black vendors, entertainment, and a fully activated museum space with fun-filled activities for the entire family!⁠

12:00 PM – Kwanzaa Story Time with Griot Janice Greene
12:20 PM – Welcome
12:30 PM – Lighting of the Kinora
12:40 PM – Kwanzaa Story Time w/ Mathew Aquino of AA County Public Libraries
12:50 PM – African Dance & Drum w/Ni Dembaya African & Drum Ensemble
01:10 PM – Kwanzaa Art Activity w/ Nikki Brooks
02:00 PM – Lunch
03:00 PM – Program Ends
Attendees are welcomed to stay and enjoy the rest of the fully activated museum site and interact with our Kwanzaa display.
